In this crochet trinity stitch tutorial, there is written instructions including a free PDF pattern of a dishcloth. There is a video tutorial of the stitch, too.
This stitch uses the 3 single crochet together stitch and chain stitches. The pattern looks like flowers or little stars to me with its 3 spokes.
This stitch works for lots of crochet projects. I have made dishcloths, scarves, cowls, ear warmers, and a blanket using it.

Trinity Stitch Crochet Tips
- For the chain you need a multiple of 2.
- The special stitch is: sc3tog– Begin in same stitch as previous stitch worked. Insert hook back into previous stitch, yo, pull up loop. (insert hook in next st, yo, pull up loop) Repeat twice. Yo, pull through all 4 loops on hook.
- The chain 1 does not count as the first stitch of the row.
Step by Step Trinity Stitch Crochet Tutorial
- Chain a multiple of 2.
- Single crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook.
- Single crochet 3 together in the 2nd chain. Single crochet together: beginning in the same stitch as previously worked, yarn over and pull up a loop. Next, insert hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Repeat again, insert hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Final step, pull through all 4 loops on the hook.
- Chain 1. Then single crochet 3 together starting with the last stitch of the previous sc3tog.
- Repeat step 4. until the last stitch and single crochet in the last leg of the last sc3tog. Chain 1 and turn your work.
- Single crochet in the same stitch as the turning chain. sc3tog starting with the previous stitch. Then continuing in the top of the next sc3tog and chain 1 space.
- Then chain 1. Next sc3tog in the last leg of the previous sc3tog.
- Repeat step 7. until the last stitch. Single crochet in the last leg of the final sc3tog of the row. Chain 1 and turn your work.
- Repeat steps 6. – 8. until you have the length you want.

Repeat Row 2 until you have the length you want. Cut and knot yarn. Weave in ends, using a tapestry needle.
