I love Chinese takeout. My husband goes and gets it. We pull out the paper plates and plastic forks. No dishes and no cooking, a perfect dinner at the end of the week. The plastic lid is the inspiration for this easy rainbow suncatcher craft for kids.
What does that have to do with an easy rainbow suncatcher? I used the clear lid from the takeout container to make this simple colorful rainbow suncatcher with my toddler.

clear take out lid or any other clear lid you have – clean and dry
a little water
step 1.
Put a small puddle of each of the 6 colors spread out of the lid. Add a little water around a teaspoon to the paint.
step 2.
Finger paint and swirl the paint around until the whole lid is covered but before it turns to mud. If you don’t have enough paint or there is less of one just add a little more.
Some of the crayola paints were a little thicker than others. Just add a little at a time until the right consistency, not globby but no so thin that it runs out. Let dry and hang in a bright window. The plastic is very lightweight and can be hung with a piece of clear tape.
The washable paints worked okay. They are pretty translucent so the light goes through them. Next time I am going to try the watercolors I have.
