Looking for a soft chunky throw blanket? A gift that is soft and practical but not too hard to make? This easy free gray stripe Bernat yarn chunky throw blanket crochet pattern will be a great project to try.
It only has 3 crochet stitches, single, double and the even berry, which makes the textured square. This chunky crocheted throw blanket works up fast too using super bulky yarn.
I was looking for my next crochet blanket project and wanted to make a soft chunky blanket with a great textured stripe.

I thought Bernat blanket yarn would be a great choice. It is a super bulky gauge 6 yarn so the chenille yarn blanket will work up fast.
The gray multi-color yarn is great because you get lots neutrals without having to change colors.
There are lots of different colors of Bernat blanket yarn, perfect for anyone's decor.
You can easily scale down for a chunky baby blanket too. The yarn is a chenille style, so it is fuzzy. My little girl keeps wanting to rub her face against the blanket.
There is a free printable pdf of the super chunky throw blanket pattern at the bottom of the pattern.

Expert tips
- For the even berry stitch, you need a single crochet stitch between each of the even berry stitches. You also need to alternate with a row between each of the even berry rows otherwise the texture will not be on the same side.
