Learn how to do the easy almond crochet stitch with this tutorial. There is a free crochet washcloth pattern too.
This easy stitch is a combination of the slit stitch and the half double crochet stitch. You do 2 rows of 4 slip stitches followed by 4 half double crochet stitches that alternate for the 2 rows. Then you switch to 4 stitches of half double crochet and 4 slip stitches for 2 rows.
This stitch is easy to do but not very fast since you use slip stitches and don’t gain in height very quickly. The pattern is easy to remember and to follow.
The pattern looks good in solids, variegated, and 2 color designs. The stitch has a great raised wave like pattern.
