It is a large soft crocheted pumpkin. You could do it in traditional colors or a modern take on it in white, gray or tan.

With only single crochet using a flat rectangle that you turn into a tube and then gather at both the top and bottom.

How to Make a Free Easy Chunky Crochet Pumpkin Pattern
- Scissors
- tapestry needle
- N, 9 mm crochet hook
- 3 oz of 10.5 ball Bernat Blanket Yarn – Pumpkin Spice or any super bulky gauge 6 yarn
- 3 oz of 10.5 ball Bernat Blanket Yarn – Deep Sea or any super bulky gauge 6 yarn (220 yd
- 2 oz of-10.5 ball Bernat Blanket Yarn – Orange Leaf or any super bulky gauge 6 yarn (220 yd)
- A small amount of Poly-fil
Chunky Crochet Pumpkin Pattern using Chenille Yarn Scraps
Abbreviations – US Term
- ch – chain
- yo – yarn over
- sl – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- scbl – single crochet in the back loop
size approx. 8 in tall and 24 in around (20 cm x 61 x cm)
You can easy make a larger or small pumpkin by increasing or decreasing the number of the starting chain and the number of rows.
I made my chunky pumpkin pattern using scraps from my I Love Fall Throw but you can use one sold color of orange. You would need about 6 oz of yarn for the pumpkin.
Chain 21
If using two colors, alternate every two rows.
Row 1: Sc in the 2nd chain. Sc in each chain to the end. Chain 1 and turn.
Row 2: Scbl in the 1st stitch and each stitch in the row. Chain 1 and turn.
Repeat Row 2 until you have 34 rows.
Knot and leave a long tail. Fold in half and line up the 1st and last rows and slip stitch together.
Take another long piece of yarn and sew in and out along both the top and bottom of the rectangle to gather the top and bottom.
When you are done pull the yarn and gather the top and bottom together. Before you gather the top all the way add the Poly-fil.
When you have gather the top and bottom together tie the two ends together that you used for each part.
Use tapestry needle and take the thread from the bottom and push the needle through the center of the pumpkin to pull the bottom up.
Then do the reverse from the top to the bottom and pull. Tie and weave in any yarn.
