Row 1: sl in the 2nd chain from the hook, in the next stitch hdc, sl in the next stitch, repeat until the end of the row ending with a sl. Chain 1, turn.
Row 2: sl in the 1st stitch, then hdc in the next, alternating sl, hdc until the end of the row always end with sl. Chain 1, turn. (sl is always on top of the sl and hdc in always on top of hdc)
Repeat Row 2 until you have 40 or the dishcloth is square. Cut yarn weave in ends.

How to Do You Crochet an Even Moss Stitch: Tutorial Step by Step
- You need an even number for the chain.
- The chain 1 at the beginning of each row counts as a stitch.
- Each row will start with a chain 1 (counts as a slip stitch) and ends with a slip stitch.
- You will crochet a slip stitch on stop of a slip stitch and a half double crochet stitch on top of a half double crochet stitch.
Step 1.
Chain an even number like 20.

Step 2.
Slip stitch in the 2nd chain from the hook. Then in the next stitch half double crochet. In the next stitch slip stitch. Repeat (half double crochet followed by a slip stitch in the next stitch) until the end of the row.
You end the row with a slip stitch. Chain 1, and turn. (19 stitches if you started with 20 chains)


Step 3.
Slip stitch in the 1st stitch. Then half double crochet in the next stitch. Alternate )slip stitch, half double crochet stitch) until the end of the row. Always end with a slip stitch.
Chain 1 and turn.
The slip stitch will always be on top of the slip stitch from the row below. The half double crochet stitch will always be on top of the half double from the row below.


Step 4.
Repeat Step 3. until you have the length you want.
