How to Make a Free Heart Printable Valentine Card
Supplies
- Cardstock – Print one of these file – front – lg heart
- Watercolors – I used these or these
- Salt – fine or coarse grain
- Jewel stickers – like these
- glue
- Optional – markers or crayons
- Optional – sequins or glitter glue
Step 1. Printable
Print out the free heart files on cardstock. For the card, I printed the card file with words and the large heart. Then, paint with watercolors.
I am out of liquid watercolors, but I love to use them because they turn out so bright. I used regular watercolors, which worked great. Add the salt for the effect before the paint dries.
You could, also, color the picture using marker or crayons too for a quick project. This would be a mess free option and great for a large group looking for a quick activity.
After the paint dries, shake off the salt over a trash can and lightly brush it off. You might need to flatten the paintings overnight under a heavy book.
Step 2. Add Embellishments
Next, add the plastic rhinestone jewels. Some of my jewels didn’t stick so grab some glue.
Don’t have shiny plastic rhinestones? You could use sequins or drops of glitter glue, which my daughter loves.
Step 3 Glue Card
Next, glue both part of the card together. Then, fold the card in half. Print out some photos and give it to your grandma as a Valentine’s Day gift.
You can print only the front or print front to back also. You would need to let the painting dry in between sides.
The printable can be used as a free heart coloring page. It would be great for Valentine’s Day crafts.
