How to Make a Chunky Free Scarf Crochet Pattern

Supplies

Scissors
tapestry needle
K 10 1/2, 6.5 mm
1- Barcelona Big! Loops & Thread Yarn 8.8 oz, 410 yd (375 m/250g) Tapestry or any gauge 5 bulky yarn.

Abbreviations – US Terms

yo- yarn over
fpdc– front post double crochet
dc– double crochet

front post double crochet stitch – yarn over, insert the hook behind the post from the front, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull thru 2 loops on your hook, yo, pull thru remaining two loops on your hook. For more info here, from yarnspirations.com.

To make the scarf wider increase the chain by an odd number

Turning chain counts as first double crochet in each row.

Gauge: 14 double wide x 6 rows in approx. 4 in x 4 in (10 cm)

Approx. 7 1/2 in x 68 in (19 cm x 173 cm)

Chain: 26

Row 1: Dc in the 4th chain from the hook. Dc in the next chain, *fpdc in the next chain. Dc in the next 2 chains*. Repeat** until the end or the row. Your last stitch will be a dc. Chain 3 and turn.

Row 2: Row 2: Turning chain counts as first dc. Dc in the 2nd stitch, *fpdc in the next chain. Dc in the next 2 chains*. Repeat** until the end or the row. Your last stitch will be a dc. Chain 3 and turn.

Repeat row 2 until you have 106 rows or you run out of yarn ending on a complete row of the same color. Cut ends and weave in ends.
