Autumn Sunset Crochet Scarf Pattern

Looking for a free scarf crochet pattern to try? This autumn sunset crochet scarf pattern is a great project to try. It uses the half double stitch, the double crochet stitch and the single crochet stitch which makes the sedge stitch.

This crochet stitch makes a diagonal pattern. It is a simple repeat. Great for watching TV and crocheting. You could make it with any 2 colors you wanted.

A crocheted scarf would make a great gift too. You can choose a color to go with their style or a neutral that would work for anyone. They are practical too.

I love the multi-colored yarn. I choose because it reminds me of fall colors. This yarn is soft too. Caron Paints Yarn comes in several different shades too.

Row 1: In 2nd chain from the hook, sc and repeat to the end of the row. Chain 1 and turn.

Row 2: In 1st stitch, hdcdc, skip 2 chains and in the next work schdcdc. Skip 2 chains and repeat “schdcdc” into the next space. Repeat across to the end and there is one chain left. Work 1 sc. Chain 1, turn.

Row 3: hdc and DC into the top of the sc you just made. Skip over the dc and hdc, *“schdcdc” into the sc*. Repeat the pattern across ending the last stitch with one single crochet. Chain 1, turn.

You’ll always be looking for the sc to do your “schdcdc” into.

Repeat row 3 until you have used all the yarn, 9 rows. Change color on the last stitch to color B. Crochet 9 rows of color B. Change color on the last stitch on row 18 and change to color A. Repeat row 2 until you have 9 rows. Then do 1 row of single crochet. Cut yarn, weave in ends.

I made the scarf lengthwise. If you want to make it longer you will need more of the paint yarn. You will want to chain and check the length. If you want it longer increase the chain by 3’s.
