Written Step By Step Instructions
- Chain an odd number, like 21.
- Double crochet in the 3rd chain from the hook and in each chain until the end of the row. Chain 1 and turn.
- Half double crochet in the first stitch. Front post double crochet around the double crochet stitch from the previous row (insert your hook from the front and double crochet around the post of the stitch). In the next stitch, back post double crochet around the double crochet stitch from the previous row (insert your hook from the back and double crochet around the post). Repeat 1 front post double crochet and 1 back post double crochet until you reach the last 2 stitches. Then do 1 front post crochet and 1 half double crochet. Chain 1 and turn.
- Repeat step 3 until you have the length you want.
You are basically alternating 1 front post post double crochet and 1 back post double crochet for the entire row around the post of previous row. You start and end with 1 half double crochet stitch, so the first stitch and last stitch of each row is a half double crochet stitch.
For the next row you repeat the same row, since the pattern is a one row repeat.
