What is herringbone crochet? Herringbone crochet is either the double, half or single crochet herringbone stitch. Like herringbone it has a slant to the stitch. There also, crochet patterns that mimic the herringbone pattern using different patterns.
The herringbone crochet stitch is an easy variation of the double crochet stitch. The stitch is close together and is two sided. The stitch has a slight lean to it which gives it it’s name.
There is no multiple needed for the chain. You can use any number, so it makes for an easy pattern.

Herringbone Stitch Double Crochet Written Tutorial

First, yarn over, insert your hook into the stitch.
Next, yarn over and pull back through the stitch and the next loop on the hook.
Finally, yarn over, pull through 1 loop on the hook, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops on the hook.
At the end of the row, chain 2 and turn. Do a double crochet herringbone stitch in the 2nd stitch (the chain stitch counts as the first stitch of the row and you do no crochet in it.)
This stitch is usually abbreviated as hhdc.
