Looking for a soft baby gift? A gift that is soft but not too hard to make? This herringbone stripe baby blanket will be a great crochet project to try.
The crochet pattern only has 2 stitches, double crochet herringbone and single crochet. This chunky crochet blanket works up fast too.
I was looking for my next crochet project and wanted to make a soft chunky crocheted baby blanket with using Bernat Blanket Yarn stripes chenille yarn. I love the color of this coral bell yarn.
It is a bulky gauge 6 yarn so the blanket will work up fast. The chunky self striping chenille yarn is great because you get lots colors without having to change colors.
There are lots of different colors of chunky Bernat blanket chenille yarn, perfect for a little boy or girl. Most you can easily scale up for a throw too.
The yarn is a chenille style, so it is fuzzy. My little girl keeps wanting to rub her face against the blanket.

Repeat Row 2 until you have 40 rows.
Border – coral bells, then white
Pull up a loop at any corner in coral bells. sc around evenly. Do 4 sc in each corner, 2 on each side of the corner.
I did 2 single crochet for each double herringbone crochet stitch when doing the sides and 1 for the top of each row. If it is rippling try just 2 stitches.
2nd row change to white and do 4 more rows of single crochet. Knot and weave in ends using a tapestry needle. Cut off excess yarn. Enjoy
