Abbreviations – US Terms

  • yo – yarn over
  • hhdc – herringbone half double crochet stitch

special stitch -herringbone half double crochet stitch – yarn over, insert your hook into the stitch. Yo and pull back through the stitch and the next loop on the hook.  Yo, pull through remaining two loops on the hook.

You can make a larger or smaller potholder or a blanket by using an any number for the chain.

Approx. 9.5 in x 9.5 in (24 cm x 24 cm)

Chain 35

Row 1: In 3rd chain from the hook, hhdc. Repeat across to the end. Chain 2, turn. 

Row 3: In the stitch next to the chain, hhdc. Repeat across to the end.Chain 2, turn. 

Repeat Row 2 until you have 28 or the dishcloth is square. Cut yarn weave in ends.

Repeat for the 2nd one. Do not cut. Tie off and then whip stitch the two potholders together.
