Mesh Stitch Dishcloth – Free Crochet Pattern

Looking for a free dishcloth pattern to try? This mesh stitch dishcloth crochet pattern is a great project to try. It uses the single crochet stitch and the chain.

How to Make a Free Cotton Even Mesh Stitch Dishcloth Crochet Pattern

Supplies

  • Scissors
  • tapestry needle
  • H – 5 mm crochet hook 
  • 1 – 3 oz Lily Sugar n Cream in Sunrise Ombre any other worsted weight cotton yarn approx 2 oz

Free Written Mesh Stitch Dishcloth Pattern

Abbreviations – US Terms

  • yo – yarn over
  • ch – chain
  • sc single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet

You can make a larger or smaller dishcloth or a blanket by using an even number for the chain.

Approx. 10 in x 10 in (25 cm x 25 cm)

Chain 40

Row 1: sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and ch 1.  Skip one ch, then sc, ch 1. Skip the next ch and continue the pattern of sc, CH 1, sk 1 all the way across. Your last stitch in the final chain should be a sc. ch 1 and turn.

Row 2: sc into the sc you just made on the row below. ch 1, skip the chain space, sc into the sc. Repeat the sequence all the way across. Ending again with a sc in the last sc. ch 1 and turn.

Repeat Row 2 until you have 35 or the dishcloth is square. Cut yarn weave in ends.
