  • Chain a multiple of 3 for the chain to make the project larger or smaller.
  • Turning chain counts as the 1st stitch of the row.
  • The 2nd Row is 1 single crochet, 2 double crochet in the same stitch.
  • The last stitch of the 2nd Row is always a single crochet.
  • The 3rd Row is a row of double crochet.

Step by Step Silt Stitch Crochet Tutorial

  1. Chain a multiple of 3 for the chain.
  2. Double crochet in the 4th chain from the hook and in each stitch across. Chain 1 and turn.
  3. 2nd row, single crochet, 2 double crochet stitches in the 2nd stitch. *Skip 2 stitches, crochet single crochet, 2 double crochet stitches in the 3rd stitch*.
  4. Repeat *Skip 2 stitches, crochet single crochet, 2 double crochet stitches in the 3rd stitch* until you have 3 stitches left, single crochet in the last stitch. Chain 3 and turn.
  5. 3rd row, double crochet in the 2nd stitch and in each stitch across. Chain 1 and turn.
  6. Repeat Rows 2-3 until you have the length you want. You will end with a row of double crochet.

Supplies

  • 1 -3.5 oz Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton Yarn in Terracotta or Silver or any worsted weight gauge 4 cotton yarn
  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry or yarn needle

Abbreviations – US Term

  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • sc – single crochet
  • st/sts – stitch/stitches

Size: 8 in square (20 cm)

Ch 36

Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in each st across. Ch 1 and turn.

Row 2: In the 2nd st, (1 sc, 2 dc). * Sk the next 2 sts. (1 sc, 2 dc.)* Repeat from * to the final three stitches, skip 2 sts sc in last st. Ch 3 and turn.

Row 3: Dc in the 2nd st and in each st across. Ch 1 and turn.

Repeat Rows 2-3 until you have 20 rows or a square. The last row will be double crochet.

Cut and knot yarn. Weave it all ends.
