In this crochet interlocking block stitch tutorial, there is written instructions including a free PDF pattern of a dishcloth. There is a video tutorial of the stitch, too.
This stitch uses the the double crochet and the chain stitch in an alternating pattern. The pattern combines the colors with an up down movement.
This stitch works for lots of crochet projects. I have made dishcloths, scarves, cowls, ear warmers, and a blanket using it.

- For the chain you need multiple of 4 + 1.
- You do 1 single, 1 half double, & 1 double in the same single crochet from the row before.
- Changing Colors: If you want to change colors like I did, switch to the 2nd color when you do the last yarn for the last half double crochet of the row. Then chain 2 in the new color.
