Looking for a quick and easy crochet blanket pattern? This evergreen ombre chunky crochet throw blanket is perfect!
I love the color of the green ombre. The yarn is extra soft and cozy. You will find me snuggling with this blanket all winter long.
The interlocking block stitch makes it a fun and easy project to work on, and the ombre effect is stunning. Best of all, this free crochet pattern is beginner-friendly, so you can get started crocheting today!
The interlocking block stitch uses double crochet so it is a easy project. The yarn is super bulky so it works up quickly.
Bernat Blanket Yarn
This soft, chunky chenille yarn is perfect for quick projects like afghans and throws. It comes in a wide range of colors so you can find the perfect one for your crochet project.
Plus, it’s easy to care for so you can focus on your craft instead of worrying about your yarn.
I choose to use this gauge 6 super bulky yarn in Ocean Teal Ombre. The thick soft chenille yarn works up quickly.

Chain any multiple of 4+1. I chained 37.
I used Lily Sugar N Cream Cotton Yan in Yellow and Tangerine for the example with a 5 mm H crochet hook.
Step 2. HDC
Half double crochet in the 3rd chain from the hook. Then half double crochet in each stitch until the end of the row. Chain 2 and turn your work.

Half double crochet in the 1st stitch (the same one where you just did the chain 2). Chain 2, skip next 2 stitches, double crochet in those next 2 stitches. Chain 2, skip next 2 stitches. Repeat (Chain 2, skip next 2 stitches, double crochet in those next 2 stitches. Chain 2, skip next 2 stitches.) across.
Half double crochet in the last stitch. Chain 2 and turn.

If you want to change colors like I did, switch to the 2nd color when you do the last yarn for the last half double crochet of the row. Then chain 2 in the new color.
Step 4. Double Crochet, Chain 2
Double crochet into the next 2 stitches in the row below. Chain 2, skip next 2 stitches, double crochet into the next 2 stitches from the row below. Repeat (Chain 2, skip next 2 stitches, double crochet into the next 2 stitches from the row below) across.
