You can pull the cowl up to meet the ear warmer for extra warmth. This chunky crochet cowl pattern has a thick woven fabric texture so there are few holes for cold wind to get through.

The yarn used in this crochet cowl pattern is hue + me from Lion Brand. The colors in this line of yarn go together really well. I chose three colors to make this chunky cowl: Bellini, Love Song, & Rose Water.

This lovely yarn is easy to work with and comes in several soft muted colors. Acrylic makes up most of the yarn but there is 20% wool in the yarn, so if you are sensitive to wool you will want to pick another yarn.

sc – single crochet
sk– skip stitch
1st feather – first feather stitch

Special stitch: 1st-Feather St –First Feather Stitch: yo, insert hook into the next chain space, yo, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yo , insert hook into skipped stitch/chain/chain space right below the current chain space, yo, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook), yo, insert hook into the next chain space, yo, pull up a loop (7 loops on hook), yo, pull through all 7 loops on hook.

Making sure to not twist the chain, slip stich the last chain to the first to make a circle.

Round 1: In the same stitch as the slip stitch, hdc. *Skip 1 stitch, hdc in the next stitch*. Repeat ** until the end of the round. Slip stitch to the first hdc.

Round 2: sc on top of the first hdc. 1st feather stitch in 1st chain space. feather stitch until the end of the round. slip stitch to the first sc.

Round 3-4: Change to Love Song. Repeat Round 2 two times.

Round 5-6: Change to Bellini. Repeat Round 2 two times.

Round 7-8: Change to Rose Water. Repeat Round 2 two times.

Round 9-10: Change to Bellini. Repeat Round 2 two times.

Cut yarn and knot. Weave in ends.
