Plate Spider Kid Craft

Halloween is next week. I received a set of neon Kwik Stix and decided to use them in to make a bright plate spider. Only a few supplies are needed for this plate spider kid craft. You can wear it as a silly hat too.

Supplies

paper plate – I used small size
black pipe cleaners – 4
Googly eyes
Glue (if you don’t have self-stick eyes)
Hole punch
Neon Kwik Stix or a larger pack of 24

How to Make a Paper Plate Spider Craft for Kids

First color the spider. I choose 2 colors. I like the Kwik Stix because of their bright colors and quick drying time. They work best on wide spots of color.

There are thinner ones too, which I have not tried yet. The are easy for a toddler to hold, like drawing with a glue stick.

Next, punch 2 holes at the edge on either side of the middle, using the hole punch. Make sure to keep the holes far enough away from the edge that they won’t tear easily.

Add the legs, by threading a pipe cleaner through the hole and lining the ends up. Then twist the pipe cleaners twice. Bend the twist part out a little.

Then repeat with the other 3 legs. Adjust the pipe cleaner legs until you spider can stand.

Finally, add your googly eyes. Glue as many eyes as you would like any with liquid glue or adhesive on the eyes.

You can wear the spider on your head as a silly hat. Have fun creating your own plate spider kid craft.
