I cannot remember the last time I actually went to buy yarn in a store. Wondering where to buy yarn online? I am always looking for the best places to buy yarn online.
Looking at yarn in person is my favorite but the closest place to buy is at least a half hour each way. Even before the pandemic, I bought a lot of my yarn online.
Now I buy all of it from different online stores like Amazon.com, Joann.com, Herrschners.com and more.
I fine it hard to choose colors from online pictures. I have had some surprises in colors of yarn when they arrived, but for the most part, my purchases have been successful.
The best thing about buying yarn online is that I can see all the different colorways and kinds. I usually know they have it available and I will receive enough for my crochet project.

Joann.com has a variety of different yarn that makes buying yarn on line easy. They frequently have sales and free shipping.
It is easy to see the color selection and and look of the yarn. They usually have a variety of colors.
The yarn is easy to sort by gauge, fiber, and kind. The details of the yarn like weight and hook size are also easy to find.
I find that they have a good selection of Bernat Blanket Yarn and Lily Sugar n Cream yarn.
I have purchased many times and a have always received all my yarn ordered and quickly. This makes it the best place to buy yarn online for me and why I think it is the best online yarn store.
2. Amazon.com – Best Places to Buy Yarn Online
Amazon.com is a great place to find yarn. There are lots of different varieties to buy yarnonline.
If you have a prime membership or choose items that are shipped from Amazon and purchase $25 or more you receive free shipping.
There are so other sellers that have free shipping to. You need to look at the shipping times though some of them are really long.
I don’t like Amazon.com for the prices sometimes because they can be double or more than what the yarn is sold in the stores or other online shops.
Some of the listings details of the yarn like the gauge, fiber and weight are hard to find.
I really dislike the search on Amazon.com. There will be all kinds of things that are not the brand or weight you want. Also, there is no easy way to find yarn by weight or gauge.
Even though there are things I don’t like about Amazon.com, it is still a great place to buy yarn on line, which is why I think it is one of the best
3. Herrschners.com – Best Places to Buy Yarn Online
Herrschners.com is a great place to get a bunch of different crafts. I have purchased from them for years.
They have a large variety of yarn and make it easy to find the different kinds, gauge, and fibers of yarn.
They have crochet and knit kits too. There is a line of their own yarns that you can order, which makes it one of my favorite places to buy yarn.
They don’t usually have free shipping but they ship in a timely manner. I usually get all the yarn I ordered.
