Looking for a free easy and quick crochet dishcloth pattern to try? This half double V stitch crochet washcloth pattern is a great crochet project to try. It uses the half double crochet stitch.
You can use as a square crochet dishcloth as a cleaning cloth, dish towel, or wash cloth. They work great and are durable.
This crochet stitch makes a V. It is a simple repeat, great for watching TV and crocheting. It is a easy crochet stitch with great texture.
I chose Lily Sugar N Cream Yarn. I like that it is easy to get. The yarn comes in lots of different colors. I picked Rose Pink which is a soft pink.
These are great gifts too. You can choose a color to go with their décor or a neutral that would go with anyone’s style. They are practical too.

Abbreviations – US Terms
- ch– chain
- hdc – half double crochet stitch
- sc – single crochet stich
- st– stitch
You can make a larger or smaller crocheted dishcloth or a blanket by using a multiple of 3 + 1 for the chain. Turning chain counts as first stitch of the row.

Row 1: sc in the 2nd chain from the hook and each chain across. Chain 2 and turn.
Row 2: In 2nd stitch, *hdc, ch 1, hdc. Skip 2 stitches.* Then repeat ** until end of the row. hdc in the last stitch. Chain 2 and turn.
Row 3-4: Repeat Row 2. On last row chain 1 and turn.
Row 5: *sc in the 1st chain space of the v stitch below. 2 sc in the space between the v stitch.* Repeat ** until the end of the row. Last stitch hdc. Chain 2 and turn.
Row 6-8: Repeat Row 2. On last row chain 1 and turn.
Repeat Row 5-8 until you have a square, ending with 1 row of sc. I repeated the sequence 6 times, 25 rows. Cut and knot yarn. Weave in ends, using a tapestry needle.
