Looking for a free washcloth crochet pattern to try? This lotus stitch crochet dishcloth pattern is a great project to try.
It uses the lotus crochet stitch a pretty flower like crochet stitch. The crochet pattern is an easy repeat. This crochet pattern does use a lot of yarn.
You can use as a square crochet dishcloth as a cleaning cloth, dish towel, or wash cloth. Crocheted washcloths work great and are durable.
Crochet dishcloths are great gifts too. You can choose a color to go with their décor or a neutral that would go with anyone’s style. They are practical too.

How to Make a Free Cotton Lotus Stitch Dishcloth Crochet Pattern
Supplies
- Scissors
- tapestry needle
- H – 5 mm crochet hook
- 1 – 3 oz Lily Sugar n Cream in Pebble Beach Ombre any other worsted weight cotton yarn
- 1 – 4 oz Lily Sugar n Cream in Teal any other worsted weight cotton yarn (4 oz of any color would be enough)
Lotus Stitch Dishcloth Pattern
Abbreviations – US Terms
- yo – yarn over
- st/sts– stitch or stitches
- ch – chain
special crochet stitch -puff stitch: (yo, insert hook into stitch, yo, draw yarn through stitch) 3 times in same stitch. yo, draw yarn through 6 loops on hook. yo, draw yarn through last 2 loops. video of puff stitch
You can make a larger or smaller crocheted dishcloth or a blanket by using a multiple of 6, plus 5.

Approx. 10.5 in x 10.5 in (26.7 cm)
Chain 35 in Teal
Row 1: sc in the 2nd chain from the hook and each chain until the end of the row. Chain 2 and turn.
Row 2: sc in 1st sts. * skip next 2 ch (3-puff sts, ch 2, 3-puff sts, ch 2, 3-puff sts) in 3rd ch. Skip next 2 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across to within last 3 ch, skip 2 chain, (3-puff sts, ch 2, 3-puff sts) in last ch.
Repeat Row 2 until you have 20 rows of the lotus stitch or the dishcloth is square. Finish with chain 1 and 1 sc each stitch and chain space. The colors alternated teal and pebble beach ombre. Cut yarn weave in ends. Enjoy your lotus stitch dishcloth.
